Hi everyone, I am new here. Several weeks ago I took the asvab and signed up as a 45B (small arms repair). I was offered dozens of jobs, like a 97B (counterintelligence), 95B (MP), and a 91W with an M6 option. I took 45B because of my already keen interest in and knowledge of weapons. I also received a guaranteed first assignment at Ft. Bragg NC with Special Operations Command, along with my airborne option. My BCT will be at Ft Knox and my AIT and airborne will be at APG and Benning. I leave for BCT in September.

Does anyone here have any experience in or knowledge of small arms repair? What is it like?
Also any information at all would be appreciated.

I went through the 45B course at APG. I think that they have shortened the coarse. It used to be 18 weeks. I enjoyed AIT, and we had a lot of excelent instructors.

I re-classed into personel 4 years ago, and I regret it. I love working with my hands. If you enjoy this type of work, you will love being a 45B

Hmmm, if you are going through basic in Sept., looks like you may end up at APG during the winter. Not good. Unless, of coarse, you enjoy liveing on a giant slab of ice! Red Faceops:

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me!
