This forum no longer applies to me!

I swore in today on a delayed entry program at Columbus MEPS. I'm classified as 09Sierra, uncommitted officer candidate. I am an E-4. I ship to Basic at Fort Jackson on 20041005, and to OCS on 20050110.

I'll sink or swim with my NCO's. I just dread the very first time I'll have to put my foot down and tell them no; especially if it goes badly.

If you have good NCOs, it should go something like this.

"Sir, we need to do it this way."
[i:b4de3355b1]"No, do it that way."[/i:b4de3355b1]
Sir, I really think we should do it this way.
[i:b4de3355b1]"No, you need to do it that way."[/i:b4de3355b1]
"Yes Sir."

(Mission fails)

"Sir, that way did not work. May I suggest we do it this way?"

Don't let your hat out of your line of sight. I have always made it my mission to rotate the LT's rank. I went to the CP early one morning with a sewing kit and got his kevlar too, that sure made me smile.

I plan anyway, to take my sergeants aside the very first day and say "guys, you know what's going on here and how to run this circus. I'm going to do my job, but I'm not going to be an ass about it. I need you to teach me how to do this stuff."

I tell ya...it's even funnier if you manage to get MAJ or LTC rank on their headgear without them figuring it out.

Hey congrats on your decision. I'm a ROTC Cadet, but also an E-1 in the Michigan National Guard. I head to basic in a little under a week. Should be interesting, especially if the DS finds out I'm a cadet. lol.
