It's the greatest MOS I've ever had (I've had three). I did it for four years before being medically reclassed. You will have a great time. Depending on where you go, you will live with the Infantry or Artillery. But when you go to the field, you are embedded with the Infantry. Well, I was anyway.
You learn how to call for fire using artillery, mortar, close air support, and depending on where you go, you can even learn naval gun fire. If you have any specific questions, just send me a private message.

As a forward observer you will be an expert in Communication, land navigation, call for fire (artillery, mortars, and Close Air Support; Airforce mission), and be part of a very challenging MOS. Fisters work hard and most definately play hard. You need to be physically fit and have extreme mental toughness. This job is a gateway for any military school to help in professional growth ie Airborne, Air Assault, Pathfinder, Ranger, blah blah. Hope this helps a little.
