i was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about the chances of me getting into the army if i've had surgeries in the past. I broke my foot in wrestling and had surgery on it freshman year of high school. Freshman year of college is broke a bone in my other foot and had surgery on it three times at the Cleveland Clinic in ohio.

If anyone can help me out with some info of my chances that'd be great. I've already got my med records to the recruiter and he has sent them to the Military doctor for review, but he didn't seem real sure that i was gonna make it thru. I don't have any problems with running jumping sports or anything.

Anything you got for me would be great, thanks.

well the surgery was august 2003. i have two small staples in the bone that the doc said could come out someday if i wanted. I'm hoping the doctor that did the surgery's credibility helps me out a bit. My dad was in the army for 20 years and i was on his med insurance when the surgery was done. The cleveland clinic is in the top 5 hospitals in t he US and the doc that did my surgery is the top orthopedic surgeon at the hospital, done work for the cleveland cavs and indians and what not... but the initial break was in dec of 2001 and the last surgery i had on it was in aug of last year like i said

and yes i have full range of motion... i can do anything with it now that i could before the surgeries.... just some very visible scars on the side of my foot.... it's not on a joint either...will that make a difference? it was the fifth metatarsil (spelling??) one of the five bones in the middle of your foot

Ouch...I'll bet that was painful. How did you break the other foot? Wrestling also?

yeah i' m pretty "accident prone" myself i guess you could say... i'd just be really dissappointed if this disqualified me from the army... i scored a 90 on the asvab and over 121 on all my line scores... so i know that'd i'd be able to do good in the army, it's just a matter of waitin to see if i can even get in...the recruiter told me it's a waiting game now...i hate that cause he said the review doc is gonna look at my med records and see if i can even go get a physical, i know if i go to the physical i will be fine cause they will see that my foot does not give me any trouble at all, but it's just a question of them letting me come to take it

I wouldn't stress yourself out about it...just relax. Just keep talking with your recruiter. Also, I believe Daddy Warcrimes is a career counselor. If you send a message to him, he might be able to give you more sound advice. There are a lot of people here with a lot of knowledge...take advantage of it
