What are you all complaining about Korea for???? I have been here a year and have about 10 months left of my second year. I guess I like it here because I have accepted that it is NOT the US, but most who hate it here always are comparing it to the US.
As for being stuck in the Training Room... I feel your pain. I got yanked from doing my MOS job to work in the Training Room. The reason I got was because I was "squared away". Oh well... I have to make the best of it.

Why am I complaining about Korea? Haven't read the posts? Who is stuck in the training room? Neither of us work in a training room.

First off let me try to explain recruiting to most of you that think you know it. We dont make promises. Everything is based on the ASVAB. That includes extra money and job quals. Sounds like a lot of you need to learn a little more about recruiting before you give advice to to young people trying to join. Its not our job to promise a job or anything. The exact phase is "If you qualify and a vacantcy exsits". I tell every person that i am working with to have a list of 5 to 10 different jobs in mind in case the job they want to full. Which does happen. For example MP's slots are full for males until the end of summer but wide open for females. There can be exceptions made though. And to get AIRBORNE you have to score over 50 QT on the ASVAB. Reguardless if you decide to wiat it out. The army is running short on training seats and really doesnt care if you are going ot play hardball. If you get a job you want and the only thing holding you back is no slot for airborne then take it. If you dont there is somebody in this country that will take it. And when its gone is gone. FYI the recruiter is just the middleman. The only person whose can do these things are the guidence personal. There might be a few recruiters that try the intimidation method. But they are usually the unsuccesful ones. I never use that tatic and i have been top recruiter 3 months in a row. Even though i hate this job I do it. I back to the regular army in 3 months and i can honesty say i am glad i did it. Its also going to make the selection to E7 a whole lot easier for me then most. Its not a job that we want to do but it has to get done. Isnt it the job of the NCO to get the job done. When all of you get to talking about how recruiters lie and intimidate remember that one day when out time is done we are going to be next to you in the foxhole covering you. Dont know why you wont cover us.

Umm, did you read the entire thread? If you had, you would have clearly recognized that most gave the kid/young person common sense advice (e.g., get an ASVAB book to prepare, and do independent research about what he/she is getting into). No one here THINKS they know recruiting. Get a grip, or better yet, make your monthly quota!

MP's. Now there is a group with a chip on their sholder.
-TenaciousP loves MP's and doesnt want a ticket and also realizes that the Military Police soldier is the force of choice on todays modern battlefield. Please do not be upset by my comment or take offense to it..... Pigs.
[quote:9037e70fee="lonewolf_74B10"][quote:9037e70fee="TenaciousP"]74B is the best job in the army... as long as you get to work your job. Im stranded in an MI training room. Great Fun.[/quote:9037e70fee]
I was wondering. Have you spoken to your branch manager to get you the hell out of that MI unit? Our branch manager moved two 74B's from Leavenworth. However, he sends them to Korea in-route to a pinpoint assignment. After their tours in Korea, one is going to Huachuca and the other is going to Germany. I rather stick it out in Leavenworth. I don't want to go to Korea. I hear it smells like shit there 24/7.[/quote:9037e70fee]
I'm out in 6 months... on my way back to alaska and Im DOIM bound!
Thanks everyone for their advice i reschedualed my meeting witht he recruiter because i dont think im ready to talk to him i really want to be prepared with lots of questions. I have taken a few ASVAB tests but not enough to be prepared. The job im really interested in is a Fire Fighter or a dietrition does any one have an idea about how difficult those jobs are or how high you need to score on the ASVAB to qualify? Did all of your parents support you in your decisions to go in the army because i know my mom isnt happy...i was just wondering if im standing alone on that one. Thanks again Private_p

also be sure to ask him/her how you can get promoted before you leave for BCt...PV2...PFC or even SPC. All the money helps...if your entitled to it, get it. _________________
