i am 30 and trying to join. i am running into some obstacles though. 1 is that i have a family violence on my record. will the judge take it off. 2 is that i am going thru a divorce. does that need to be complete to enlist or not. 3 is that although i scored perfect on the asvab i am having a hard time deciding the mos i want to go into and can i expect any more tests because of my scores.

Domestic Violence may be a problem as you cannot carry a weapon. The divorce shouldn't matter. If you did well on the tests then you can pick from a variety of jobs depending on what is open...and that changes daily so stick to what you want and not just what is open that day. Be prepared to walk out of the MEPS and return another day to get what you want.

You may be able to get in if that is the only thing on your record. If you have something else, it may not happen.Either way, you will need to do an interview with either the Company or Batalion Commmander (It has been a while since I have put someone with this issue in, but an interview is required).
you will need to get 3 forms (I believe it's Form 370) from your Recruiter. These forms are filled out by people that you know well and make good character witnesses. This is what you will probably do first, then the interview will come.

The violation and character witness forms are then reviewed.

After this is done, the Recruiter should get a message on his e-mail saying if they approved it or not.

If it get's approved.. become part of the team.

Remember, there are some jobs that you will not be qualified for, because of the law violation. Mainly MI & MP jobs.
