I'm going to give you some advice. Everyone is going to say their branch is better. Marines will say their's is, Navy will say they're best....it's all in the eye of the beholder. It's your life, you should do what you want to do because you're not going to be happy if you don't. Every branch has their pros and cons, but it's what you want out of life that's important. I had the same dilema as you when I wanted to join. It was between Air Force and Army. I chose Army specifically because I could choose the job I wanted. Like I said, it's your life, you live it for you and what you think is best for you.
Wow seems like we all have more in common than I thought. For me it was also between Army and Air Force and I ultimately chose Army because of guaranteed MOS also.
My advice to you is to take as much time as you need to come out with a [i:cc7f430b65]clear[/i:cc7f430b65] and definite decision. Look at the pros and cons of each sevice and see if the cons are things you think you will be able to live with.

Lets say that you wanted to be a medical supply specialist:
Pros and Cons:
Army: Guarantees the job you want in writing. You will be a 91 Juliet for your army career if you want to be. Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps: A job field. I think that it would fall under their logistics field. You COULD end up as a load master on a boat or something like that. Then again you could get what you want.
Air Force has better housing. If you like boats ofbviously Navy is for you. If you like protien bars and heavy metal objects Marine Corps is your bag (translated into: Working out and a better sense of esprit de corps)
I looked as Marine Corps first then setlled with Army because I knew I could be a Medic.

most will say Air Force over Army because Air Force is less physically demanding than the Army. Plus people are under the misconception that if you are not a pilot, you'll never leave the States. Certain things are easier and better in the Air Force over the Army, but then certain things are better and easier in the Army than in the Air Force.

Air force housing is only better on very populated bases, Army one-man dorm system is improving housing to be well above what the airforce has and by 2007 we will just need to focus a bit on the food issues, Medic's also promote quicker in the army than most other MOS's.

I wouldn't think you'd have a problem getting either one of the options you want. Just take a trip to the MEPS and find out what is open....if they have what you want take it. If not, WALK!...don't be talked into a job you don't want!

I've always understood that Air Force Housing is better because they build the housing first and run out of money, and ask for the money to build their runways (or to finish the mission). When you look at it that way, it makes a little more sense then the other way around, like the Army does. But who am I to complain, I live in housing thats [i:ea8e2ef8f2]only[/i:ea8e2ef8f2] 40 years old with a 5-7 year old facelift.

Oh yeah, you see many exotic ports of call in the Navy- New Jersey, Mississippi, Virginia- all each more exciting than the next.
At least that was my experience as a Navy brat. However, my Father did manage to see quite a bit of the world in his 30 yrs. If you do even consider the Navy: could you spend up to six months without touching land on a grey prison surrounded by water? That was my largest deterrent.
As for me, my initial choice- years ago now- was the CIA. They even offered to pay for my schooling provided I gave them six years of my life. I turned them down on when they said I probably end up being a desk jockey. Of course, I wanted to be a covert operative. Fast foward eight years, and look where we are now.
I eventually settled on the Army because of a.) it's heritage and b.) U.S. Army Special Forces is right up my alley for reasons that I won't bore anybody with here. Ultimately, the choice is entirely yours to make; my decision would be based on what exactly you wanted to do with your career and go from there.
Hope this helps and good luck with your decision!

My personal opinion; join the Army but go medical, not finance! I hear that the quality of living is better in the Air Force, but if you can get garanteed medical in the Army, go for it! Like I said, only a personal opinion.
