If you're sent home from OSUT for convalesence leave due to an injury are you required to restart from the beginning of Basic or from where you left off?

In addition are you returned home from whence you shipped or are you "free" to go where you will? And are we still paid? Or would this be considered temporary seperation? Does this count against PCS time, and up to how long can you be on leave before they decide to give you a medical discharge?

Well I don't know all the answers but I know you'll still be paid. As far as where you go on leave is what you put on the leave form....that's where they expect to be able to contact you. Your training restart prolly depends on how far you got and how long you'll be gone.

I have never heard of anyone being sent home on convelesent leave during training. The soldiers that I knew that were injured during training spent some time in the hospital recovering, and then were sent to a fittness battalion untill they where able to return to training. Many of them were able to pick up were they left off and did not have to start all over again.

Some Soldiers I knew that had severe injuries but refused to be Med Boarded did get sent home on Convelesent Leave to recover. I believe that the send you to your home of record. As for restarting your training, it depends on where you are when you leave... the ones I knew got restarted just before the area that they left.. just before BRM in BCT.

Hope this helps a little. The doctors and your Drill SGTs will have all the information for you.
