Are you trying to validate your reasons for joining? Everybody will answer differently.
My reason: I wanted a challenge, to help people, security, I wanted to serve, I wanted to be a part of something positive. It was a decision I have never regretted once in the last 8 years.
Because I wasn't doing anything with my life, and was getting really tired of college. I figured that if I took a break from it, Id be glad to go back later. Plus the 70,000$ I got for college and my enlistment bonus was nice. Also I wanted a way to travel. There were many reasons for me to want to join. Above all of this, even though I fear my government, I love my country.
Thats right thers so many reasons. I wanted to get educated while getting paid instead of just school work and loans that you will have to pay back. So now that i'm active I get TA assistance plus if I get out I still have my MGIB. Plus most of your friends will wish they made the same choices you made after a couple of years then it will be too late for them.. You will have more experience..

Cuz I felt like it. I had the Pesidential nomination, but didn't have the grades or the patience to follow my sister through West Point. So I just enlisted.
