I enlisted in the army guard 10/23/2008 as prior service with (E-4) and was wondering with all the wonderful unexpected waiting to get the show on the road with training, is it possible to request boot camp vs WTC? Would they allow an E-4 to attended? From what I read and signed in the contract that it is possible! Anyone??

You cannot request to go bootcamp....too costly! you will go to wtc. you might actually want to go to wtc...they compact 9 weeks of basic into 5 weeks, they skip d&c (which you should already know.)

Great, more unnecessary comments from the peanut gallery. Boot Camp/Basic training, we caught the basic gist.
D&C isn't stressed in the Navy like it is in the Army. Just like the proper way to fold clothes isn't stressed in the Army like it is in the Navy. WTC wasn't around when I went through Basic and I think actually going through the 8 weeks was better for me to prepare physically after being out for 4 years. I understand your concerns, but cannot give you a clear answer as to whether you can request it.
And to all the Non-commissioned Officers out there, try to live by the first line of the NCO creed please. No one is more professional than I.

Ok...lets try the professional way (seeing how I tried the straight to the point way.)

I switched from the Navy, who DOES give a shit about D&C, this past March2008 to the Army, who from what I see so far DOES NOT give a shit about D&C anymore. When I was in my last few weeks of the Navy I kept asking about going to basic b/c of the comraderie (or how ever its spelled) that is built there with the few people that are possibly going into the same MOS as myself. I was told were I am prior service and I have to some type of basic training/boot camp that it double paying for job already done in the DOD's eyes (those are the guys who pay the Army for this WTC program by the way.) So I would not be able to go to regular Army basic training because of that. Also, I was informed that WTC is identical to basic training in all fashions, even outfitted with drill sgt's, except WTC doesnt train future soldiers on D&C b/c WE SHOULD ALREADY KNOW AT THE LEAST THE BASIC'S OF D&C! *that last part, in all caps, came out of the mouth of a active duty SFC recruiter*

From my experience so far in the Army...you can request whatever you want, that if you show that you even half way want what you request you will get it...but for this, and I know I wanted to go to basic, I doubt you will get it. But shit, nobody will knock you for trying.

I went to WTC and to be honest...For me going to basic would of been kind of a waste of time. But the Navy and AF operate little different. The D&S was the same. My weapon was the same. My job was even the same. In fact honestly sometimes the only think that makes me realize I left the AF is the fact that A CPT is a company commander where as in the AF he was a flight cheif.

I appreciate your feedback from all of you! I only ask becuase, of what I signed in the contract that you agree there MAY be a possibility of having to attend ARMY BASIC TRAINING, etc. etc. and thought of it as an option. Anyways, thanks agian and I already received my WTC date for JAN.2009 so, now I can finally get excited!

Whoa, AF Captains are NOT Flight Chiefs. They are OIC's. Flight Chiefs are AT LEAST a seasoned TSgt. but USUALLY a MSgt.

Capt... OIC
1Lt or 2Lt... Ass. OIC
CMSgt... Superintendant
SMSgt... Can't remember
MSgt... Expediter, Prod. Super. or Flight Chief
TSgt... Expediter, sometimes Flight Chief, worker
SSgt... worker usually a 7 level
SrA... worker with a 5 skill level
A1C... worker with a 3 or 5 skill level
Amn
AB

Yes, I did use the Air Force abbreviations.
