34 push-ups isn't even passing the PT test.

And why not go straight to active duty? Unless you're talking about the DEP program.

No, you're wrong.

With parents consent you can enlist. If it's before you graduate high school, you'll be in the Delayed Entry Program. (DEP) If you are still under 18 when you graduate, it's no big deal because your parents signed a paper saying you could.

Besides, you wouldn't be 17 much longer anyway.

He'll be fine with 34 pushups, he's already in alot better shape than alot of other people that go to basic. The drills will get him into the shape he needs to be in to graduate.

I enlisted when I was 17, but turned 18 two months before I left for basic training. I was one of the younger ones in my graduating class. Turn 18th in May and graduated in June.

I went all the way through basic at 17 and turned 18 just before graduating AIT. I made sure I had Germany in my contract so I could go somewhere where I could get beer.... 8)
