When I was much younger I did something really stupid (twice). I went to a mental facility for attempted suicide (even though it wasn't a serious attempt). I only stayed at this place for 2 days. It was a long time ago; about 10 years ago now. Does this kind of stuff show up on the backround check? And would I be disqualified? Would it be alright if I never bring this up with the recruiter, and answer "No" to any questions regarding this part of my past? I mean, if there are forms to fill out that specifically ask these sorts of questions, and if I answer "No", will I get caught in a lie? Thanks for the feedback, it's appreciated.
I definitely won't lie. I just wanted to know if I can *avoid* talking about this part of my past. That is, is this question specifically asked at any time?
And, also, does this information show up in the backround check process? If so, does it disqualify me?
I was treated for depression as well and also hospitalized. i was heavily medicated but never attemtped suicide. i was 100 percent honest with my recruiter and at meps. it took alot longer and i had to see a few shrinks for psych eval but in the end i had a waiver within a few months. i ship in less than 2 weeks and have 25S in my contract. so everything worked out fine for me. Just dont lie because they will find out.
