Hello all

Im planning to join either the national guard or the the Army in june of 08.. and i was wondering Should i get Lasik before? My eyes are -5 , yes i know not the best eyes but i will do anything i can so i can serve my country.

if u join the regular army, u can get it done for free...

From what I hear there's a massive waiting list as well.

it also depends on which post you go to .. I know that different posts have different waiting times

I'm not sure what the -5 means, but your eyes have to be worse than 20/40 to get the surgery through the Army

I had to wait on the list for a year but got it done. I would highley recomend waiting and join then get it done. if you have it civilian done theres alot of MOS's they wont let you do. so think about what u wanna do. but they give waivers for everything now. so im sure it wont be to hard to get past it if you have it done before u join. but i would check with your recruiter first.
