30 years old-from a long family line of Army Vets. I have made alot of mistakes in the past-a Domestic Violence against my wife and about 5 traffic offenses (speeding and a failure to control-all minor misdememanors), 1 assualt and 2 persisting/disorderly conducts. All of these offense were 11-12 years ago-with the exception of the domestic violence and one speeding, The DV was 3 years ago-my wife testified that I never physically touched her-(The neighbors called because I was cussing her out-dumb I know-its an automatic DV in Ohio if you are made to leave the home). Since this event took place I have got my GED-enrolled in college (14 credits in the books)-did alot of volunteer work in the community-basically made a change of life. I now want to enlist to serve this country and pay back some of the liberties I took for granted when younger. The Domestic Violence I saw on the internet cannot be waived-BUT the recruiter told me since I only had a GED I would need 15 college credits(1 more needed) and he can put that waiver through even with the DV. Now the sentencing judge in the DV is a retired Army Jag who said he would right me a reference regarding my moral character to help me past waivers. Also my college instructors and some local police officers agreed to do the same. Like I said the DV scares me-I really want to serve in the Army. Most of my stupid mistakes are years behind me. My recruiter has his opinions on my shit to get past waivers...can anyone else give me some additional advice or words of wisdom. This means EVERYTHING TO ME. Thanks.

Well everyone makes mistakes in thier life, and I do commend you for wanting to serve your country. I think you have a good case and I don't see why you couldn't get into the army. I am not the most familiar with the whole waiver process for those types of offenses, but I would think that you should be able to enlist. Good luck!
