Hey, I'm a 25-S. Been in for 3 years now. The army is now moving from 85 or 93 shelters onto KU terminals. It's a good job, alot of prospect both in and out of the army. Be prepared for fast and furious classes and make sure to pay attention as best you can. By the way I went to Benning too.. good luck with it
Just to toss in my .02. As a strategically trained 25S, I can tell you unequivocally that the track you are trained on at AIT matters not one bit. I went from a strategic assignment requiring a TS clearance to a tactical deployment where I am "maintaining" the KU (part of the new JNN system). It's even still under warranty with Data Path meaning that I really have no job at all. They even changed my designator on my ERB. *lol* So all you can do is hope for the best when it comes assignment time due to the OPTEMPO of the Army. My boss here is a 1C that got rerouted after receiving orders and clearing post which means that it can (and will) happen to anyone.
Just a heads up for all those that think they can't be touched.
No, They're not signal. Leah and Reggie Rassmussen. They have a son named Mac. I think Reggie is chemical, but he's currently a 240B gunner in Afghanastan.

Well 1 more month left out here in Kuwait and then I am headed to Gordon. I am either going to be an AIT instructor or SGL at the NCO academy. I am pretty excited too. We just closed on our house and will be nice to get back to being stationed with my family at a military base.

Hey man dont be upset if you get the tactical training and end up at a fixed site. Seen it happen more than once. Also the stuff they are going to teach you, you more than likely will never use again unless they finally upgraded all the equipement. Lets some equipment you may work with. JNN, 85-93 vans, ANT-RC-194(MILSTAR), USC-60, and if you go to Special Ops side of the house you will be working with COTS commercial off the shelf equipment. The school is easy just remember the theory of operation and you will be good..
Whats the difference between a SGT and SGT(P)? Nothing until you sew on your rocker

Originally posted by Nathan67: Hey thanks for all the info. I'm now actually in Ft. Gordon and 3 months into the 25S course. Basic at Benning was tough, but I actually liked it alot. Sierra class is going good too, passing everything just fine so far with 80's and 90s. We're in the middle of SMU right now and just finished intro to DCSS (Promina). However, my company, B447 reminds me of a chicken with its head cut off. Life in the barracks was absolutely insane, and I found myself missing the environment at basic due the extreme lack of organization, lack of discipline, and EXTREME overcrowding. Luckily I just got moved off post with my family about 2 weeks ago, which is 100% better. Only 3.5 more months to go.
Exactly, looks like nothing has changed since I was in AIT back in '03 . I was felt the same way you felt about the lack of discipline and organization when I just got to AIT from Benning. People were so lazy too, we had more failures from end of cycle PT tests then in the schoolhouse!!!
Well insted of starting a new thread I figured I would post in this one.
I am getting ready to reclass to 25S just waiting on a school seat right now. I am a 13D right now and wanting to change to something that will be useful later in life ( not a lot of need for artillery in the Civ world )
I am married. No kids. Any one know the chances that I will be able to get into houseing and not stuck around the little IET Kids ? I am in Iraq right now my frist time with a roommate and cant stand it would like to avoid it as much as possible, so if any one knows who I need to bribe to make sure I get into houseing I would be very greatful.
Also any tips of anything I should study or read up on to help me for the AIT when I get there.
Any other tips or tricks would be very hands as this will be my first PCS move since AIT. Only going from Stewart to Gordon so only about 2 hours.

Since you're prior service, you won't be stuck living with the IET soldiers if that's what you mean. I think you'll get a choice to live in government quarters with permanent party or allow you to PCS and live off post with your family since I think school is still longer than six months.
Beam me up Scotty!
