My reasons for joining??
That's a good question, it was something I needed to answer my mother when I told her what my plans were, being that she was against it from the start, probably thought I was a little too girly, or that the job I have is good for me. So I told her I'd be in the reserve, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized I wanted more, after I took the ASVAB test and learned about AIT, it just felt that being a part-time soldier wouldn't be enough, or simply not what I wanted.
I moved to the United States when I was 12 years old, and I consider the United States, my country, I love it, and I want to do my part. It's kind of hard to explain, but when I see men and women in uniform, I feel a huge respect towards them, and I know I want to be one of them. I am aware that it will take a big effort, and I'm willing to give it my all.
That said, I also like the thrill of knowing it's going to be a challenge for me physically as well as mentally. That I will be working hard for a purpose, not many people get to work on what they truly love, and so far I've felt like this is my calling.
Right now I'm working in Accounting (A/R) for a local radio station, and I love it, I like to solve problems, to be organized, to work with people but know that the final result depends on me. I use to work in Human Resources for a little while, and I really liked that too. So I'm looking for an MOS that will combine my current job with being a soldier. Hopefully there will be openings in a similar field.
