Greetings. I have 2 yrs prior service in RA when I was 22-24 yrs old(99-01). I was a 31C (radio oper/maint). Honorable discharge. Now at 30, looking to rejoin full time again.
I am wondering if anyone can answer a couple of questions for me:
1. Do I have to go back to 31C (now 25C)? 2. Do I get an enlistment bonus? 3. In the time that I have been out, I have had several teeth extracted and several more need some work. Will this hinder me from enlisting?
Any help is appreciated.

I was active 89-94, and just came back in last year for my old MOS. Per regulation, if you have been out for over 3 years, you will have to go to Warrior Transition Course (4 weeks), and you will probably be put back into your previous MOS if it is currently a critical need MOS...but you will have to go back to school for retraining. If it isn't a currently a critical MOS, they will probably steer you to one that is. Your choices will probably be limited.
As for the bonus, as Prior Service you are not eligible for the mega-bonuses they are currently offering to new recruits, but there are some modest bonuses available...a new recruit in my MOS can get up to $40,000, and I was offered $8,000.
Can't help on the medical thing...
Just be prepared to have your recruiter be completely clueless when dealing with you...most have no idea how to process a prior service, especially with an extended break in service.
Just as an addition...does anybody know if you lose your PMOS identifier with a long break in service?? I can find no regulation that states you lose your PMOS after a break in service. Of course, there may be retraining involved, but that is often the same for current MOS's as well.

What were the circumstances surrounding discharge?
1. Your old MOS will be offered to you if your Military Service Obligation has not expired. There are PS applicants who are allowed to change their MOS when coming back in. Depending on the rank you held at the time you got out, you may have to have a grade determination waiver which will let you konw your rank, MOS and duty locations prior to signing a contract. Of course, you will have to have a test and a pysical completed prior to submitting for the waiver.
2. Hard to say if a bonus will be available to you since that will be determined by the MOS you enlist into this time. If you get a bonus, consider it icing on the cake.
3. Only the doc at the MEPs can give you a heads up on the dental issue. I have seen some individuals cleared when I could have sworn they would not get through, and others stopped during the physical due to a couple of fillings needed.
Good luck on your quest to get back in, if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask them.
