The situation is I have till Monday to tell my First Sergeant if I want to get out on Family Care Plan. I'm overseas and it's hard being a single parent overseas. I leave in August 2009. I re-enlisted to come here but did not know I was pregnant till I got here. Is there a way that I can leave eariler than that and get stationed closer to home?
If not I would like to know how do I go about changing from active to reserves. My ETS date is April 2010.

Prior to enlisting/transferring into the guard/reserves you must ETS, however, you are ineligible for the guard/reserves when you are chaptered for lack of a family care plan.

If you are transfered to the IRR for Pregnancy, you can come into the Reserves very easily. They cannot process you at the transition point though. You will have to get a letter from your doctor that says that you can return to work after delivery and sign a 4187 requesting a USAR unit assignment. If you want to do this send me an email at mark.hoffman@usar.army.mil and I can get the paperwork together for you once you are in the IRR and find you a unit.

Are you talking about pregnancy or family care plans?

Retraction:

You CAN transfer through the transition point for pregnancy chapters. As with all RA decisions, contact your RA career counselor for the latest and greatest.

To AR: I was talking about Pregnancy. I have not seen anyone in the IRR if they had a FCP issue. You are usually discharged for that.
