OK...well here is an update...apparently my tape that had me at 1% over was wrong because they 1SG used the wrong numbers or something so my flag for that tape make it invalid..but i was retaped by a different 1SG and was found to be 2% over. Now i know the promotion sheet stated if i am good between feb 20 thru mar 8 i am good for april 1 promotion. Since my origonal flag was invalid at 5 mar and my new one should take in effect on 26 mar then i should still get my e5 then be flagged as an e5????? Is any of this rational? i know its crappy to cling to something like that for promotion but a promotion is a promotion no matter what...HELP!

a promotion is a promotion no matter what? So what kind of example do you give your Soldiers as an overweight brand new SGT (or E5, whatever you call yourself)?

Common sense would say you would get promoted then get flagged righ? Well they can hold off your promotion until you meet standards, they did it to a Soldier b/c of a failed PT test, was it legal? I dont know, did it happen? Yes.

I dont care even if they hold my promotion until i "meet standards" but to remove me from promotable even when my name was on the by name list of promotions for april 1st, that is just plain wrong!! I can deal with waiting until i pass tape which i know 1 or 2% can be dropped easily.

I'm kinda confused on this but I needed to say this....If you knew that you were over on your percentages for some time and it can be "dropped easily" Then why have you not done it? If one 1SG said you were over 1% and it became invalid and the you get retaped and now you are 2% over why would they promote you? I know that the Army tape test definetly has flaws but if you wanted to be promoted this bad you would have done whatever it took to get below the percent you need to get promoted.

Just kinda bugs me that people complain about the system but don't give a full effort to make it a non issue... I know I might not know the whole issue and thats fine, but if you want to get promoted drop the weight or the body fat and make it a non issue. And its not wrong to take you off the list...You do not meet the Army Standards. You want to be a NCO and enforce the Army standards you need to be straight with them first.

how is it wrong??? You dont meet Army Standards, so why should you get promoted, if you dont get promtoted then you are not wasting a slot that a high speed SPC(P) can move up to next month that can pass the weight.

And as JWEEZY said, if you know you can drop it easily, why didnt you drop it already before it became an issue regarding your promotion...dont know the details but sounds like plain laziness to me, you tought "haha its invalid, now I get to get over the system and get my promotion anywayz, hey lets go to BK" then they tape you again and you fail by more and your like "crap, ummm can they stop my promotion??? I earned it this is just WRONG!!"

Here's a good answer. How about you stop stuffing your face with donuts and get out there and do some PT, lose the weight get in-shape and stop triing to find ways around the standards. If you spend as much time doing PT as you do the computer triing to sqeeze through the cracks you might pass APFT/Weight.

A bit uncalled for. You are assuming quite a few things here. And we all know what happens when you assume. Which you have done, minus the me part. Yeah, he needs to loose the weight and stop trying to get promoted off of a technicality.

OP if it is so easy just go out and do it and all will be good.
