back in march i had surgery on my leg. after that i gained weight and couldnt pass my tape. they put me on a weight program, telling me i have to loose 3 pounds a month, and or making tape of course well ive lost atleast that every time i get taped, and i have lost the inches on my waist and i actually would have passed if it wasnt for me loosing inches of my neck, basically im loosing the weight at what they asked me to. now they are saying that if i do not pass my september tape that i am going to be chaptered even though im meeting the criteria they have set for me, are they in the right? what should i do?

Are you passing tape? Are you under your maximum weight allowed?

no im not passing tape, but on the initial counseling when i got flagged for being overweight they told me that they want me to loose 3 pounds a month, and or loose inches off my waist, and i have lost more than 3 pounds a month and they are still trying to push this? is it right for them to do this?

Yes, you are not meeting Army Standards. They can chapter you. They gave you a goal to meet, according to you you are meeting said goal but you are still overweight and cannot pass the tape test.

well thats just plain $hi!ty, why should one even try? they give you a guideline you follow it and are making the progress they want you to and they still screw you over wow

In the other hand you are doing your best to pass the tape test. Your leadership needs to be faire. If you are meeting the Plan of Action they should not be threaten with the chapter. Contact legal assistance.

I agree with StRaTeGy_ We should just let this blow over and go to the faire. Maybe I'm just being a pessimist but why didn't you plan a proper diet after your surgery since your physical activity became near ziltch.

mapmaker Several things you mentioned will have to be explained and in the process I will provide you information. First, you mentioned you had surgery in March, it is now September when you were placed on the Overweight program?

Also the Overweight program is the Commander's program so, who is the THEY that you mentioned were considering chaptering you?

Have you considered having working on doing "Shoulder Shrugs" prior to the next taping or neck exercises in the gym?

our MSG is wanting to chapter me if i dont get pass the next tape test, i was placed on the program in july. on behalf of the diet i did the exact opposite i ate so little that i slowed my matobolism well now i know that was the wrong thing to do...

Ok, if you have consistently lost the 3 - 8 (as required by AR 600-9, not something the counselor comes up with) lbs a month, then you are making satisfactory progress. They can not do anything. If I'm not mistaken, once you are put on the "big boy" program, you have one year to come off. So, if you were put on it in July, you have until that time in 09. Reference AR 600-9.

Like Strategy said, build those neck muscles the best you can, that helps more than you think and maybe get a golf ball stuck in your throat right below the adam's apple during the tape process...and personally I don't feel this is grounds for Chapter.
