I have people telling me that if I want my orders cut for E-4 (automatic at 2ys. time in service was 01AUG) my assigned unit needs to do so.
But when I spoke to my NCO who is still in Iraq, he said that the unit I am attached to needs to cut them and I'm not even "in the books" with my unit.
What and where do I find the answer to this? I'm getting the run around for my rank....I've worked hard for this promotion.

If your NCO says you are not on their books, then you are not in that unit. Your NCO needs to verify with the orderly room and see if you are still on their alpha roster.

I don't understand why I wouldn't still be in that unit. I only have attachment orders for the WTB here at Walter Reed...I'll try and get a hold of my NCO again.

Okay, well my LES and AKO says SPC now. But my squad leader here says in order for me to wear the rank, I need the orders.

Well than someone circled yes to your name on the list that comes down every month
Instead of your squad leader telling you that you can't wear the rank because you have no orders, He/she needs to do their job and help you find those orders. Try going to S-1 and showing them your ERB and maybe they will produce a copy of orders for you. I'm not an expert at this stuff, but S-1 deals with all the promotion paperwork.

They don't care what my ERB says, because "it's not their responsility" to cut my orders.
This will take a while I think.

heheh...there is no "orders" for automatic promotion to SPC and below...we used to do 4187's on all promotions SPC and below so that Soldiers would have something to show, but it doesnt have to be done. Now correct me if im wrong, any 42A's, I been out of the S1 for a while but thats how we did it.

ok you got me... I call anything dealing with proof of promotion, wether it be a 4187 or actual orders, orders. However... your S-1 should be able to help you out.
