Ok I have no idea who to turn to so i'm asking you guys, my problem is this: On March 5th I took an NCOES PT test and passed everything but the tape; therefore, I was flagged. 2 days later on March 7th I tape again and pass. Thinking that it was kinda stange to pass 2 days later I looked into the March 5th tape and noticed that the numbers were wrong. If my tape had the correct numbers I would have passed and not have been flagged. At the same time promotion points came out and I was on the by name list for promotion to SGT for April 1st, but since I was flagged obviously it was turned back. After constantly bringing the issue and getting stressed out up to my NCO support channel and constantly getting "just roll with the punch" attitude. I was randomly tapped again on March 26th and failed my tape but not flagged or anything for it. My issue is I know the regulation states per AR 600-8-19 section 12 3-30b "A soldier removed from a list and later completely exonerated from the reason that caused the removal will be reinstated. To be completely exonerated, the action that caused the INITIAL removal must have been erroneous or should not have been imposed so that the soldier is free of any wrong doings or accusation." The reason i put initial in all caps is because obviously i was flagged on a tape that was erroneous. My company doesn't deny that the flag was wrong but they are now trying to use the tape that was done on the March 26th stating that the flag was just carried on to that tape. And I know that its a proven fact that stress causes weight gain! So that's the reason for me failing this other tape test.
Correct me if I am wrong but is that not half a$$ing someone's career? Is that not pre-dating a flag? Shouldn't the correct course of action to have been dropping the flag and changing it to March 26th? And would I have been re taped if the tape had the correct numbers the first time? Should my career suffer because a senior NCO can't do his job right? Is it not an NCO's purpose to take care of the soldier instead of making any excuse to have him not be promoted?
Now I can honestly tell you I am not the best soldier in the company but I have been in the unit for 2 and half years with no Article 15s or really even a negative counseling statement. Yet there are so many soldiers that have gotten in trouble even demoted from SGT to SPC and are now back up to SGT. I got to this unit as a SPC and have only gotten SPC(P); while, people getting to the unit after me as PFC are now or already been promoted to SGT. To me its a bit annoying to know that at a unit that is so quick to promote people that I have yet to be promoted or demoted within almost 2 years. I have even gone as far as to re-enlist at the unit and opted to not take special re-enlistment time off. Lots of my fellow battle buddies that are NCOs and even officers say that I should be an NCO. Countless times I have given my free time to take care of other soldiers in and out of my unit. Does that not account for anything?
If your wondering what unit this is..its an MI unit.
The biggest answer i get from my chain of command is that they will put me in for the promotion board and get me back in line to wait yet again for my promotion....LOL apparently I have to re earn my promotion. Sadly this has made my mind up to leave the ARMY after 8 years. ~ever wonder why recruitment for the ARMY is bad??~ I fully strive to take care of soldiers and not make them another NCOER bullet!
Yhea everyone hypes up PT..big deal you have a 300!I have heard of 1SGs being mad because they had to chapter out a really good NCO out because of AWCP. Maybe we need to take a lesson from the Canadians. They have done away with BMI because of its obvious flaws and say if you can pass a PT test then your good. I know image plays a big role to but come on. There are so many people that would like to join the fight but because of how they are built they just could never pass tape. According to army standards my max is 169lbs...ROFL!!! I am built like a wrestler not a track star! If I were to get down to 169lbs then I probably would be getting counseled for looking too sickly thin!
But does that really matter on the battlefield?? Who really cares if he is a big guy? What matters is that you can depend on him! Can you honestly trust these people with your life when deployed when they have no problem at half a$$ing your career? Most of these people I would swap out their grenades with rocks or tape the pin to it so i have peace of mind that they wont screw up and throw the pin and hold the grenade! Yhea explain that to Johnny's loved ones...so-and-so didnt take the time to do something right and decided to half a$$ it and now hes dead. Oh well it was only Johnny's life....
