Trend Report is out / Points are Not-Yet

everyone got promoted huh? no one calculating anymore? hahaha

I guess I'm still entertained and amazed by the accuracy of the formula. (doesn't take much)

Last month I calculated points to be 580ish and they ended up being 630ish. According to the calculation 68w this month should be around 680 if I did it right.

well according to the formula, my points for SSG 15N should be 786 and i have 788 so I'm keeping my fingers crossed, the formula does seem rather accurate though. points should be out today hopefully

question, is there a difference between cut-off score and promotion points? If you already know the points for the month your in what is it thats being done exactly with the formula, Just a simple question. I was trying to see if I could calculate for next month (June), then I re-read the post and it said to not subtract the CURRENT Month.

Thanks for your time.

You used the formula incorrectly.

You take the (6 mo avg cut off score off of the Trend Report)----MUTIPLY that by 6 yes

Then subtract the last 5 months of cut off scores, this is NOT including the cut off score of that month. As the Trend report is usually released 2-3 days before the points, this gives us a way to estimate the cut off just 2-3 days early.

68W SSG PZ

Read below, I'll show you where you messed up:

759 uis the 6mo average cutoff, YEP. You got that correct. However this is NOT a needed step b/c this is actually done and supplied for you ON the Trend Report, but anyway. Ok yep 759, correct.

759 X 6 = 4556

Yes that is correct also.

Then you substact 5 months (this is where you made your mistake). You do NOT substract the CURRENT MONTH!!! That is what your trying to find out!!

You take 4556 and you substract

-Apr cut off
-Mar cut off
-Feb cut off
-Jan cut off
-Dec cut off

and this will THEN leave you with MAY's cut off!!!!!

4556

- 798 (apr cut off)
- 762 (mar cut off)
- 743 (feb cut off)
- 747 (jan cut off)
- 736 (dec cut off)

Well Ill be darned, that leaves you with 770

770----MAY's CUT OFF!!!!

As the Trend Report is NORMALLY released 2-3 days before the points it is a great way to find out what the cut off will be, 2-3 days prematurely.

This is one of the BEST threads I have ever read on this site. (opinion)

Hey tho, way to be critical, arrogant...and wrong all at the same time tho! Tri-Fector! LOL

The reason i said don't subtract the current month, b/c in THAT example. They were doing the formula after the trend report AND points had come out. (so I was showing the error they made, and that once the CURRENT points come out...well then heck...whats the need for calculations...they are OUT!!)

This formula works AFTER the trend report is released, but BEFORE the POINTS/CUT OFF SCORE is realeased.

That is usually a 2-6 day window.

Whats ur MOS? 31B?
Primary or Secondary Zone?
...ill predict the future LOL

Just calculated mines......

92Y SSG

707x6=4242-671-657-654-756-704=800

Well that sucks.......800 basically means maxed out for the month of June. I need to kick myself in the butt again for holding on to points when I could've turned them in before February when the score was in the mid-650's

Congrats to all those who made cut-off.
To the NCO from my unit who thought I learned how to do the pre cut-off calculations from this thread: I actually wrote this thread and came up with this myself. Thought it was funny you saw this thread though and yes this is your PAC, SGT Maliepaard.
To all those who found miscalculations or are having problems with the calculations:
It is not 100% accurate, but it gives you a good idea. Please be sure to post if your results are way off. If you are having problems, be sure to read the local high speed medic's post on how to do it step by step. He's typed it out a bit easier to read.

I don't know if it's already been said, but this formula is a simple spoiler for the cutoff scores. you are not predicting cutoff scores, you are deducing them from hard info on the trend sheet. very slick, and pretty reliable within the 1-2pt margin of error
