No one knows for a fact.....Or if they do HRC has not posted it yet. The only thing that is out what is proposed. And from it looks like the PT test and range is going to make up a lot of your score. Also no more board and commander points it will help some and hurt others.

The board is a joke anyway. Memorizing a bunch of random trivia makes you an NCO. If you need to find anything and everything you just use Google. No need anymore to know what FM or AR anything is in. What truly makes a good NCO is the ability to lead and train Soldiers, not if he/she knows what FM covers NBC.

There's an FM that covers NBC? And all this time I thought it was only a television network. No wonder I only got a 144 on the board.

No offense but your husband needs to go get the promotion and not wait for it to fall in his lap. Do some extra college courses or something.

He currently has 601 points and is working on the civilian education part. It's kind of hard to earn enough points when they are consistently at 798 for 3 to 4 months in a row.

If the system isn't fair for all then who says we should be fair to the system? Why should someone have to do so much more than the other guy to get the same promotion? If a SGT is a SGT is a SGT then how could one have maxxed out points and another be automatically promoted? Seems like a double standard to me. I for one am going to reclass into a STAR Mos and hopefully get auto SGT and SSG. I don't care if they aren't auto promotions either because i'll have about 745 points here soon and I highly doubt a STAR MOS will jump up that high for SGT/SSG.

I hope your S-1 is right, that kind of eases some of the worries. Good luck on your board...just stay calm and be confident and you will do fine.

I feel alot of you guys on here. Do whatever you gotta do to get promoted. If the system isn't fair, by all means I encourage you all to play just as dirty, not sure exactly how, but a little positive "go for the gusto" mantra to get you all fired up; well that's just my game.

You know the stigma kills me...People complain all the time about points being to high, and yea it happens. As a 25Q i had to watch points stay @ 798 for 4 years while SGT points stayed @ 350. I was asked countless times why I was still a SGT(P) and I would use the excuse that points are 798 and "impossible" to reach. Well then one day I asked myself was it really impossible? and the answer is NO. You just have to put forth effort, but to most of us effort translates into doing some correspondence going to WLC or BNCOC and attending a BS Board. Well in my case it wasnt so I spent 9 months in the GYM preparing to Max my APFT which is the hardest part of getting 798, and then theres the civilian education part. I had taken a couple of classes here and there but never actually understood the college system. After some research I found that there were online classes which were self paced and worth 4 credit hours. Now with the Army paying 4500 in TA its easy to accumulate the college courses. After I give the speech about doing college everyone and my troops especially say "I dont have the time" Now come on I spent 60 top 90 minutes a night doin my classes all ot takes is good time management, a little self determination and top that off with some testicular fortitude and you have the recipe for getting promoted!
