with the new promotion system for sgt/ssg taking affect in the very near future will the soldiers who are already on the promotion lists be required to have there points reevaluated to the new promotion point system or will there points remain the same?
Just yesterday I heard from our Reg. SGM that the new promotion system takes effect FY 08 which would be OCT 1 this year. Where can you find information on the new system though he couldn't tell us a lot about it.
I emailed HRC, and they told me this was just a proposed system, and wouln't be going into effect until later this year. Now that i think of it, this is a big thing, if it were going into effect, there would be mass emailings on the subject, and a SGM and the S1 would definitely know everything about it, they do kinda run promotions. Kinda hard to implememt something you know nothing about.
Good Evening! I have a Question. I was just promoted to Sergeant a couple of weeks ago, and I have a question in reguards to the Promotion Points within the new system. My MOS is a Star MOS. (92Y) The 350 Automatic Promotion Points-Does this remain in effect for me to work with or use towards the E-6 board? If So, Do I calculate the 350 in along with all of the points from Awards, PT, Weapons Qual, etc???

The new points system is not in effect yet and will not be in effect for a while. It will be in effect for this FY but like someone already stated, not until around August 08. The S1s do not know anything about the new points system other than it has not come out yet.

Does anyone know if there is an ALARACT or MILPER message regarding this new promotion system? even though it dosent take effect until later next year (maybe). Weve got a barracks lawyer whos been shooting his mouth off saying that it takes effect January 1 2008. thanks for any help.

Let this barracks lawyer keep believing this. I too have heard August 08 from diferent sources (Army Times, etc) I cant remember if there was a message outlining the whole system revamp but I wouldnt listen one bit to these people. Hear it first from your personnel division and go from there not from some barracks lawyer
yes there is a milper message about the promotion point system out. The points are not going to be changing until about october of next year. However they have started letting the individual soldier start inputting some of thier own points.

we just had a class on the new online HR system. We were told that it wouldnt be up and running till early 2009. so..with that being said is the new promotion system postponed as well?
The only info I got on the new promotion system was from Army Times. It stated that the system was going to be setup for soldiers to get on the promotion list when the hit the primary zone with a base score of 450 for SSG 350 for SGT. You can still go to the board and get the rest of your points activated, but you will not be able to add promotion points until you go to the board. I did not know it was pushed back though
