I am a SSG, with 17 months TIG. I graduated ALC Nov 2014. I am leaving garrison to deploy. question: I took a picture in May 2014, should I get a new one be fore I leave with my number 2 on my NCO ribbon for this year whilst I'm gone? I know the following: AR says every 5 years, at the announcement of a board, or being awarded of a ARCOM or higher. I'm not sure but the board should be June, and I won't have the TIG requirements for this board, so am I being too worried about it and cancel my appointment for someone else that needs it or should I err on the side of extreme caution?
You are not eligible to be looked at for SFC in the secondary zone until you have 36 months time in grade. I would recommend taking a DA photo when you are eligible. Or if you get an award of an ARCOM or higher.
