My husband has 4 months left of his 20 month hardship tour in Korea. He will soon be going to Ft Bragg and our concern is that he will deploy to Iraq or Afghanistan or somewhere else soon after his arrival there. We have been without him for so long. Is there some regulation or milper message stating soldiers coming off hardship tours may not deploy for x amount of time? If so, where can we find that information.

How did a 12-month tour turn into a 20-month tour?

With a regular deployment it's supposed to be 90 days, but I've seen the Army work around that by re-flagging a unit.

My motto is that anything in the Army seems to be able to be waived by a BDE CDR's signature.

When I got back from Afghanistan we had 90 days but our unit was deactivated and redesignated. They could have redeployed us ASAP because we had a new UIC. Sigh.

It takes the First GO to sign off the wavier, He does not have to request it, it can be done involuntary. ALARACT edited for information.

(1) DWELL TIME FOR COMBAT AND OPERATIONAL DEPLOYMENTS OF 12 MONTHS OR LONGER IS AT LEAST 12 MONTHS. DWELL TIME BEGINS TO ACCUMULATE ON THE DAY THE SOLDIER RETURNS TO HOME STATION. SOLDIER CANNOT BE REDEPLOYED WITHIN 12 MONTHS WITHOUT A WRITTEN GO WAIVER (AS OUTLINED IN PARA 4.B. BELOW). COMPLETION OF 12 MONTHS DWELL TIME WILL NOT BE THE SOLE REASON FOR REPETITIVE DEPLOYMENT. (EXAMPLE: SOLDIER DEPLOYED FOR 15 CONSECUTIVE MONTHS ACCRUES 12 MONTHS OF INDIVIDUAL DWELL TIME; SOLDIER WILL BE AFFORDED MORE THAN 12 MONTHS AT HOME STATION PRIOR TO THE NEXT DEPLOYMENT WHENEVER POSSIBLE.)

B. INDIVIDUAL DWELL.

C. BEGIN REPORTING THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION FOR DEPLOYING UNITS AT THE BRIGADE COMBAT TEAM AND SEPARATE BN/CO LEVEL NLT 90 DAYS PRIOR TO LATEST ARRIVAL DATE (LAD) AND AGAIN, NLT 30 DAYS FOLLOWING ARRIVAL IN THEATER:
(1) NUMBER OF SOLDIERS AUTHORIZED.
(2) NUMBER OF SOLDIERS WHO HAVE HAD VOLUNTARY WRITTEN WAIVERS APPROVED BY A GENERAL OFFICER.
(3) NUMBER OF SOLDIERS WHO HAVE HAD INVOLUNTARY WRITTEN WAIVERS APPROVED BY A GENERAL OFFICER.
(4) NUMBER OF ADDITIONAL WRITTEN WAIVERS OF EACH TYPE PROJECTED THROUGH LATEST ARRIVAL DATE (LAD).
(5) ALL NUMBERS WILL BE REPORTED BY MILITARY PERSONNEL CATEGORY (OFF/WO/ENL).
(6) REPORT FORMAT WILL BE PROVIDED TO DESIGNATED POC WHEN IDENTIFIED. REPORTS WILL BE SUBMITTED VIA ELECTRONIC MAIL TO HQDA, DCS, G-1 (DAPE-MPE-DR).

12 months became 20 months when he extended for 8 months because we were worried upon his return home he would be sent overseas and miss the deadline for this year's green to gold school start date. Unfortuantely, due to a miscommunication, and through NO fault of the Armys, the paperwork was not submitted in time.
After doing this for so long without help, I am just not sure I can take another year of seperation should he be sent off to afhganistan, iraq or anywhere else for that matter, which is why I posted the question. I couldn't find the answers in any regs and there are so many milper messages, I thought I'd try this website first. Again, your responses are appreciated. Thank you.
