Rite in the Rain, the company that makes that super useful green waterproof paper has a wider variety of products than you could ever imagine aimed at the military. They want the troops to know what they offer, so they are giving away free samples.

You fill in the catalog request form at this page and they send you a free catalog and some nice samples of their products.

They have a lot of stuff that the PX does not offer for sale. the stuff that they have is far superior to that which the PX offers, but the price gets up there once you mix the middle man in and everything.

I looked into getting some of their high-speed leaders books and then offer them through this site at cost, but I was not too sure that anyone would pay about 25 bucks for them.

the ones sold at the px are purchased like this..

A company like brigade quartermaster buys them from rite in the rain, then marks them up to sell them to the PX to make a profit.

The PX turns around and marks them up again to sell and make a profit.

If I was able to drop the 2500 bucks and buy a good number of them, I could sell them at what they cost me, plus whatever the shiping is which probably would only be like 2 or 3 bucks.

That takes two profit seekers out of the deal and makes the price that much lower.

I have usually purchased Rite-in-the-Rain products from companies like Ben Meadows and Forestry Suppliers, and occasionally e-bay auctions. We tend to go through a lot of it, and it can get a little expensive. However, anything else just can't hold up in the field to the elements. I'm going to bring a few tablets to basic training.

If you read te history of the paper, it is actually pretty interesting. It was designed originally as a safe alternative to what the logging industry was using.

I was given the "Rite in the Rain" ALL WEATHER FIELD BOOK (NO. 980T). I use it everyday to ensure I complete projects in a timely manner. The paper is really sturdy and held up great when I it was soaked by rain, but never got around writing in it during the rain....
