Wounded Warrior Project has been offering backpacks to troops for a while. They hand deliver the backpacks to troops in DOD medical facilities. The backpacks contain the following: clothes (sweatshirt, sweatpants, t-shirt, undergarments), a calling card, CD player, and a full comfort kit (containing deodorant, shaving gel, razors, shampoo, body bath, toothbrush, toothpaste, washcloth, hand sanitizer, lip balm, nail clippers, comb, and antimicrobial hand wipes.
They have delivered more than 6000 wounded warrior backpacks.
though this is not something you can request, if you want to support the program they have info where you can do that.
