I am currently down here at Fort SIll and will be going into this course. It is the Army's newest MOS and little information is known. I will use this thread to provide information on this MOS. Currently the AIT is 10 weeks long at lovely Fort SIll and for Paygrades E5-E8 and CW2-CW4.
Hey KingofMinot2, can you please update how the training went and your outlook now that you ARE a 29E? I am extremely interested in this MOS but am on the teeter totter as far as if I should jump or not. Thanks.

I'm a little cautious of this MOS. Has anyone considered the long term promotion and outside job potential. It seems as we drawdown in OIF and OEF, there wouldn’t be very many people needed in this MOS and I can’t imagine there are many civilian jobs that these skills can be applied to.
I think what really gets me, is I’m seeing a lot of 25 and 35 series Soldiers (MOSs with outstanding job potential after leaving the service) trying to leave their job for a one time bonus and an MOS that no one really seems to know much about. I considered it myself, but that bonus isn’t big enough to give up on my MOS. Too big of a gamble, but to each his own.
As current in service you will stay at either the IHG Lodging on post which was really nice or one of the hotels off post. The instructor cadre are all prior-service contractors and have a vast amount of knowledge.
I see alot of people going into this MOS but please do so for the right reason don't just go because the promotion points are low or because of the bonus. Because the grass may seem greener on the other side when it isn't.
Just imagine would you choose the MOS if it didn't offer a bonus. Also remember the bulk of the MOS will likely be SSG/SFC so do the math on that one as there will be only so many MSG/SGM slots.
This isn't a "leadership" position also you will 99% spend the rest of your career in an BN level and higher staff section. The higher the level of the section the lower you will be on the totem pole. So if you are the type of person who wants more rank so you can lead more Soldiers or lord your paygrade over others it won't really work. Kind of like your Batallion/BDE Career Counselor. You are there to advice the commander on the EW spectrum. You have to sell the importance of EW to you unit. If you can't sell it they will find other ways for you to be gainfully employeed.
And best believe if you want to progress in this MOS it's about what have you done in this MOS not how you helped shoot at gunnery.
I just talked to a E7 that went through the course. He said it is a really good course. I am getting ready to reclass to it in December. I am currenly in the CREW/Crew Master Gunner Course at Ft. Huachuca. The EW will work at either batallion / Brigade level. Lot of stuff to learn with this job. Duke / CVRJ2 are the main systems but there are others you will learn about and it is really good stuff to know.

Tonyb, you wouldn't have any expierence to warrant a DOD position in this job...Remember you are competing again Navy, and AF as well as Marine personnel who have been doing this job for longer (E1-E9 01-08) and for example the AF/NAVY actually utilize more equipment and monitor more assets...You only request to use there toys...
As of right now it's to early to say what positions would be open other then instructors and an FSR for Crew devices.
This MOS is for Intergrating EW into plans and operations. You won't be operating to many set pieces, and you also won't be flying Air EA like the AF and Navy will so right there let's you know who'd be more qualified and have more training.
Most Electronic Attack assets aren't organic to Army units but are to AF and Navy units.
If you are looking for something that will translate to positions on the outside involving the spectrum look into Intel, or Signal...
But this could all change in the future. If I were the DA lol,I'd take all aspects of Electronic Warfare and give it to the EW career field. This will centralize Electronic Attack, Electronic Protection, and Electronic Support.
So 29E, 25E, 35S, 33W would all be under the same CMF.
