I see alot of people going into this MOS but please do so for the right reason don't just go because the promotion points are low or because of the bonus. Because the grass may seem greener on the other side when it isn't.

Just imagine would you choose the MOS if it didn't offer a bonus. Also remember the bulk of the MOS will likely be SSG/SFC so do the math on that one as there will be only so many MSG/SGM slots.

This isn't a "leadership" position also you will 99% spend the rest of your career in an BN level and higher staff section. The higher the level of the section the lower you will be on the totem pole. So if you are the type of person who wants more rank so you can lead more Soldiers or lord your paygrade over others it won't really work. Kind of like your Batallion/BDE Career Counselor. You are there to advice the commander on the EW spectrum. You have to sell the importance of EW to you unit. If you can't sell it they will find other ways for you to be gainfully employeed.

And best believe if you want to progress in this MOS it's about what have you done in this MOS not how you helped shoot at gunnery.

Candee, the course isn't hard. I mean we had failures yes. I recall we started with 27 and 14 graduated.

There isn't alot of math but we did do a view formulas. I will just be straight up with you. You will have to read and start reading on your own. You will have to soak up FMs 3-0,5-0,7-0, 3-36 (Start here first).

Also do the recommended pre-course modules.

I would say to actually seek out a 29E in your unit if you are in 4/10. Talk to them. Not someone who did the job as an extra detail, or someone like that. Because the job is a bit more broad then what they are realizing. Talk to the actual 29.

I've been trying to access the course at hom but I can't for some reason, I figured I have to be on a gov PC...is that why?

Also did you have a PT test?

BTW I'm not in 4/10 and dont have any 29E in my BN or BDE...you are my only lifeline...lol

Thanks for answering my questions

Candee, I am going to the course in January as well... Actually the course starts on my b-day Jan 10... My buddy just graduated from the October class and he said it was real easy.. He was a honor grad.. Finished third in his class. There isnt alot og math.. U just have to know how the formulas look pretty much from what he told me.. Also, they did pt everyday because they had two failures I think.. Also, its a lot of power point and u have to give a presentation.. Dont sweat it.. Pay attention and be pro active... U'll b fine.. I trust what my buddy told em about the course.. C ya at Sill..

So what branch does it fall under then?

How did the coarse go? I am looking into this MOS and thought this thread would be a little more detailed...

Can anyone enlighten this subject alittle more.

Like what exactly is AIT like, what are the duty assignments like. I have never seen a 29E so I am very curious as to where they are stationed.

Any more details anyone could share would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
