Getting injured in AIT

Picture of rfcytb
I have what the Dr. calls an avulsion fracture of the foot. I am 2 weeks away from finishing AIT. The Dr. thinks it may need surgery. Right now they gave me a week of light duty. What are the chances I will not be allowed to continue in the Guard in the future if I need surgery? Any advice from anyone as I really want to stay in and not be sent home because of this. It was a fluke accident while on duty.

You stay motivated and do what the doc says to heal correctly, and when your chain of command sees this I think you'll stay on board. I had a close buddy who broke 2 bones in his foot, and they flat out asked him if he wanted to stay in and he did so they let him.
