I just joined recently in july as a 74D but have always been wanting to go into 68W. I heard recently I can still change my MOS. Is there anyway I can change my MOS?
Yes, you can still change your MOS. I came in as a 92F and reenlisted for 68W. Had i have known better when I enlisted I would have waited out the career counselers at MEPS. They will tell you all kinds of lies to get you into the MOS field that they have shortages in. You are not obligated to shit until the day you swear in and move out to Basic. Then it is too late. The thing for you to do is to go to your recruiter and tell him that you do not want 74D, that you want to be a 68W. Tell him that unless you get that job you will not join the guard. This will put him in the position to help you get what you want. But you must be firm in your demands. As long as you have a GT score of 110 or higher you qualify for the MOS. Don't let him(recruiter) tell you he can't do it. HE CAN!!! If he wants you in the ARMY. Remember he needs you ,you don't need him. He has a quota to make every month, you don't! Losing your contract whether high school grad or not makes it harder on him cause he has to go out and find someone else to make quota. That means starting all over. By the way, you don't need a SECRET clearance to be a Medic either. I don't have one and I've been in 4 years. So don't let them feed that BS to you. Be patient and wait it out until you get what you want. I wish I had done that. The same thing happened to me. They can get you what you want. BE FIRM!! Be firmer with the career counselers at MEPS also. They are bigger liars than recruiters. Do not accept that contract until you get what you want!!!!! Also, Go regular Army HOOAH!!!
