Here is the deal. I reenlisted as a 68W (reclass) and am awaiting school. I just picked up promotable status a couple months after I signed my contract but I have not been to school yet because I am currently deployed. If I make cutoff before I go to school, can they take my E5 away?

You can lose your class seat when your promotable status / rank changes.

Thanks! If I am more interested in keeping my rank what will be the next step? Will I be NOA? Will I be shuffled into my old MOS? My main concern is to keep my rank. I would rather loose my seat than loose my rank.

Scenario...If you re-enlisted w/ 68W re-class option, have a class date, get promotable status or promoted before going to school are you ineligble for the school or just have to be re-slotted for a new date? Can this be waivered so that you can keep your date? Will this affect the fact that you recieved a bonus?(deployed bonus not BEAR program)Thanks!

You'll need to go through your Career Counselor to get approval from the new branch for your promotion status. They will be the approval/disapproval authority for this action.

Same answer applies ...

Also, regarding your deployment bonus, this will not be affected by this because you did not reenlist for a 68W bonus. The MOS was immaterial for the deployment bonus.

WOW, thanks that helps! Also, do you have any hard evidence supporting what you have said? I will probably need that when I bring it to my career counselor. What if I get denied a waiver for promotion to E5? Will I still owe the Army 4 years that I re-classed for? I don’t think I fully understand what will be the reaction if I make cutoff before my school date. I am under the impression that if I make cutoff before school it will null and void out any service time that I will have to serve. Under no circumstances though can or will they take away my promotion will they? I have already gained (P) status since re-classing.

AR 601-280, Army Retention Program, Appendix E, Line 5:
e. If a change in the Soldier’s rank or PMOS occurs before movement to the course, confirmation of attendance must be made. If the Soldier is no longer eligible for course attendance or assignment because of change in rank or PMOS, the Soldier will be assigned according to the needs of the Army.

The promotion won't be taken away, but your AIT class date may ... and you'll still owe the time you reenlisted for.

All of this (the above reference) should have been explained to you prior to you reenlisting for Option 3.
