I'm getting ready to sign the final contract this week to become a Health Care Specialist. I'm basically in, all myscores and everything qualify me. I wanted to know how this field is, where they train for basic training and after, and is it worth it?
I am an active duty medic, and the previous post was correct. you will do ait at ft sam houston, tx... as far as training and such you will leave school a nationally certified emt-basic. i personnaly love being a 68W and throughly enjoy my job. but it is up to the individual, if you like medicine and like helping others in need then this is a great job. if you don't like blood or needles not such a great job for you.

You will go to AIT at Ft.Sam Houston for I think its 16 weeks. San Antonio is a fun place, but dont let the fun overcast your schooling. You will be in a hospital as a Health Care Specialist or go to a line unit as a Medic where you will most likley deploy. If you know what you are doing the grunts will respect you, but if you are all jacked up just expect to get jacked up. Remember you are going to be saving the lives of the guys you work with, so dont be that PVT Snuffy. Good luck with the course, and good choice on the MOS.
