Alright, so other then havin a maximum security prison, i'm pretty much in tha dark about Leavenworth. I juss got my orders and will be reporting shortly, but...
I'd like ta kno more about tha place.
So far, I kno it's got a prison, it's a Tradoc post and it's on tha border of Kansas/Missouri.
Have you, or anyone u've ever known been stationed there? If so, please give me some insight on what I've got to look forward to.

I was stationed there from 1998 to 2000.

What is your MOS and do you have a unit of assignment yet?

I am a 92G/E-5 and I haven't gotten my unit assingment yet.
I was really just hoping to get some opinions of other soldiers who have been stationed there.

I believe Fort Leavenworth is also the location of the Army War College. Its a nice looking post with lots of old buildings. Lots of high ranking officers around also.

Actually the Army War College is in Pennsylvania. Ft. Leavenworth is home to CGSC, Command and General Staff College. Thats all Ft. Leavenworth seems to care about. Majors walking around everywhere.

I just left Leavenworth about 7 months ago. Its a nice little post. For example the weapons range is about half the size of a football feild, if that. Not a whole lot of activity going on. You will probably be assigned to the 705th MP BN since that is all thats really on that post besides a med unit and a small MP company. Post housing is pretty nice, its getting better too. Definently alot slower pace of OPTEMPO than you might be used to.

Not much to do in the area! Leavenworth the town sucks! You have to go to Kansas City area to find anything to do.

How often do they deploy?

They just got back from deployment Feb/Mar time frame and that was the 705ths first time deploying. So who knows when they will go again. And due to OPSEC I wouldnt tell you on the internet anyway..haha.. J/K

i'm at ft lv right now and it really ain't that bad...you prolly will be assigned to the 705th (largest unit on post)...as a 92G you'll work pretty decent hours and have some EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT!!! leadership...if you have any specific questions let me know!
