What can a 35M do at Ft. McPherson? I have been placed on orders there and don't have a clue what they need HUMINT collectors there for.

It has been two weeks and nobody has replied. I gusess that means that there isn't to much for a 35M to do at McPherson. Has anyone ever been there, and if so what is it like?

Based on my research, you will most likely go to Ft. Gillem. It is a satellite base next to McPherson. The 1st US Army is there and they have a G-2 there that is broken down into the Security and Intelligence Division. Looks to me like a Strategic assignment.

Are you already a 35M, or, if not, when is your class date. If you just got the assignemtn, must be the May class. I am in the August calss and still waiting on my assignment.

I am currently a 35M serving in Baghdad. I re-enlisted to go out to Ft. McPherson and right now my ERB says HQ 3rd Army. I have been trying to find possible slots for a 35M and have not been very lucky in doing so. Any information would be great.

Is there a lot of soldiers in 3rd Army there at McPherson or is it just a HQ Company? Is there a contact list of personnel in that unit somewhere? I would like to contact someone there and ask what I should expect.

It's the 3rd Army HQs (not just a company). Probably the second largest AC building on McPherson.

I looked at the websites provided and they were very good.

I'm a 42A and trying to get McPherson...Family issues and some other things I'm not willing to discuss are the reasons why. My question is, is 3rd Army also moving? I've heard that FORSCOM was moving to Bragg but I need a timeframe. My window opens up in February and after I leave GITMO, I don't want to get there only to turn around and head to Bragg within a few months. That's if I'm lucky enough to get the assignment. HOOK ME UP ARMY RE-UP!!!!

No sure your rank, but I do remember seeing assignments to Fort McPherson for 42As in EDAS. If you are someone you know has EDAS, you can probably find a couple assignments to McPherson.

Also, around 2011 is the scheduled time frame now, but I though 3rd Army was moving somewhere else ... maybe SC? I'll have to check on that one.

97E (now 35M) has been flooded with bodies in the past couple years. I know of a few that are working in the S-2 of a strategic SIGINT battalion. You will probably be an extra body. Sucks to be you.

That is excellent info. Not exactly what I was hoping for. Does anyone have anything a little more positive?
