The town outside (Radcliff) isn't so great, but just south (Elizabethtown) is growing and north is Louisville.

Hardin County is a dry county and only as of a couple years ago did they start selling alcohol in restaurants.

Fort Knox is one of the growing posts in the Army. The housing has gotten alot better and the PX should be expanding soon (if not already).

Fort Knox is home to USAREC and will soon be home to HRC.

Thanks ArmyReenlistment. Do you know if there are starting "life cycle" units there? What are my chances getting "better" housing there? I have heard from someone who was stationed there that the housing on the north side is better, is it only for seniors though? Thanks again.

I know they have been trying to start a LCM unit there for two years now. I had Soldiers on assignment through reenlistment that were subsequently deleted because it didn't start up. I'm pretty sure by now everything is in motion to begin.

About housing, I'm not sure about North or South side. I just know that I was in pretty crappy housing and then when I left in 2001 they had built much nicer homes.

Thanks again. It turns out mine might get deleted too. Reason being that I had an FSTE (12 Months) approved by HRC but my DEROS wasn't changed yet. It will be changed now according to G-1.
