I'm an army recruiter in FL right now and I'm bout to reenlist, my question is my wife is in her Doctrine Degree and cannot transfer from her college for another year and a half is there anyway out there that my unit could let me live on base and still get my BAH? There is no way for me to afford two houses and I know they did away with geographical bacholers a couple of years back. Two houses would financial burden me but I want to stay in the army is my only real option is to take an Oconus assignment so I can still get my BAH for FL?

Personally, IMO, you're best option would be to volunteer to go to Korea for a year. I *think* that you still get BAH for your family if you are unaccompanied. I'm pretty sure that's the only time you get BAH and live in gov't housing at the same time.

So long as you are on an overseas unaccompanied tour of duty then you can receive BAH. Another option would be to look at a location you are looking at getting and A) seeing when they deploy, it may be that you will deploy soon after getting there and not need to worry about 2 homes (of course I am basing this on that when you PCS you will be reverting back to your original MOS), or B) try looking in the classifieds for a roommate or two that you could split rent with. You may be able to find someone with a 3 bedroom house or apt and the rent could be very cheap. Just a thought.

By the way, I'm confused, I thought you were supposed to go to Stewart in May?
