From what I understood, when you PCS from Korea, you are allowed choice of duty station. I was not given any kind of options aside from the wish list on AKO. Anyone know whats up with this? Do i have to fulfill some type of criteria or what?

How did you come to this understanding?

When I was stationed in Hawaii, my NCO who had just come from Korea told me the same thing, and that was how he had gotten Schofield Brks. And I had actually recently spoke with a reserve recruiter who said that he thought that you did get choice of station after your hardship tour. So I dunno

You don't get station of choice so to speak although the branch managers will take your requests into consideration and usually give you some priority in slotting.... of course this is all according to the needs of the Army... so it may seem like you get station of choice but that is only because there is an open slot and you are coming off a hardship tour

Well I suggest being a little proactive. I was in contact with my branch manager months before. Within days of requesting Ft. Hood as my duty station, It was on my ERB and I now have paper orders. Now I get to spend my last year with my old ADA unit (hopefully) and at home with my family.

Although, this may severely backfire on me if I am not able to get picked up by my old unit. I may be rapidly deployed HAHA
