So I just put in for Fort Sam the other day as my reenlistment place of duty. I don't know if I will get it, but I was just wondering if anyone knew about the living conditions there for single soldiers. Is it a good place or should I consider looking more into Germany? I am from Houston and love Texas so I figured I would love Ft. Sam.

Well if you joined to be close to home then you will love it, if you joined to travel and now you are going back home...

lol this is true, but do you or does anybody know about the barracks there? I know right now at Ft polk they are trash and I would like to live slightly better than that lol.

If you're still interested in info about Ft. Sam I'm currently stationed there, about to PCS to Gordon/Eisenhower. San Antonio is beautiful, lots to do, family and military friendly as well. The barracks are pretty nice as well. Two-Man suites, seperate rooms with common bathroom, kitchen area. If you have any questions i'd be happy to answer them best i can- SPC Treece 68K
