I'm considering an assignement/reenlistment to go there. Does anyone have any comments or advice about the post, area or units? Thanks.

I just left there last year ... had a blast with downtown Savannah, the Savannah Sand Gnats (minor leagues baseball), Tybee Island and Jacksonville FL was only two hours away.

If you're serious about getting the assignment, I can get your kids in the right school district (if you have any).

They're only four right now. I'm still debating between Carson, HAAF and staying at Lewis. It'll depend on slots and what units I could go to.

I am currently deployed out of haaf and spent over a year there prior to that, it is an amazing area with too many activites to list for a family. If you have any specific questions please feel free to ask, also, i would without a doubt stay there when i get back if its up to me.

Savannah is really nice, I went fishing and took my wife to the beach almost every weekend. Richmond Hill has great housing if you dont mind a little drive.

One of our BNs is stationed down there at HAAF. The post is really nice. Right in the middle of Savannah, GA. It is a decent city with plenty of things to do and see. Plus like Armyrenlistment said, J-ville is only 2 hours away and that is another good city to visit. I would go with HAAF over FT Lewis anyday.
