Can anyone give any updated info on Fort Polk, particularly what there is to do there, what is the housing like (single SGT), is housing off post authorized? If so are there a lot of apartments? Everyone that I have talked to said there is NOTHING there? Also any info on field rotations?

Well I am here at Polk. I'll be honest, there isn't much here to do directly. You have to drive. E5 do not get housing and there are several apartments around so it's pretty easy to find. And as Far as rotations, it depends really. If you are going to 4/10 Moutain don't unpack. They start deploying Novemeber through January. Elements of 1st CSB deploy next summer. Fort Polk sucks! If you go there you will deploy. Right now the post is empty. everyone is gone to Iraq. Army is bringing down National Gaurd and reserve units just to keep the place running.
