We got orders to report to a new duty station from Alaska for December 10th. I am due with our baby on December 12th. We have submitted a 4187 with doctor documentation so what could go on? My husband is prior service Marine and this is the first PCS in the Army as well as every having to submit a 4187. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, I'm back. Sorry bout that. One way you could go about it is have your husband contact his branch manager through HRC(Human Resource Command). I would believe and hope that they steer him in the right way. Hope all works out.BOOKS!

He already has and his branch manager told him to submit the 4187 and documentation from my doctor stating when was the latest I could travel etc and then they would go from there. So I am just wondering what could happen etc. I know they could defer it or keep it the same and us leave so I dont know.

This may not be the solution you are looking for, but you can report early. So long as your husband has finaled out from his current unit, he can report early allowing you to get a little settled in. It might be easier so you are not moving with a newborn. Check his orders. It should say report no earlier than that date. Of course when you final out depends if you plan on taking leave too.

Well thats what we were thinking too but his unit sent him on TDY about 2 weeks ago on a mission that was going to last 4 months and then he came down on orders so I think they are trying to push it back so he wont have to come back and the unit doesnt lose money and have to send another NCO to replace him. I just really am curious as to what they will do and how long it will take. If it stays the same we have so much to do and we have 3 other kids and have to change insurance etc so I am just concerned that we are talking about 7 weeks (since that was the recommendation of my doctor not to travel after 34 weeks pregnant) and I dont know how long it will take them to get this take care of.

He needs to get with his 1SG to run some interference for him...I was on Recruiting orders to report to school 6 days after my wife's due date, my 1SG hooked me up we submitted the 4187 and like less than a week later I had a 30 day deferment...still going to have to PCS with a newborn but its all good b/c we are going back to my hometown...oh yeah..got DA selected and still got the assignment I wanted....

I just spoke to my husband a few minutes ago and his 1SG is on it. So hopefully we will have some sort of answer in a week or so. Its just really stressful for a 7 month pregnant woman sitting here not knowing whats going on. Thanks for all the responses so far.

Well....we checked ASK last night after it not having any information last week and it is still saying a report date of 10 Dec so I dont know what is going to happen. His ERB is also updated to show his unit. So what should we be doing now? He is going to try and contact his 1SG today to find something out but being on TDY in PA and us in AK is causing some issues. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
