I dont know how its supposed to work cause my last unit did whatever they wanted but pretty much anyone who had a family was given 14 days PTDY after they got to the unit.

Too Easy.... I to am headed to Gordon on the 20th of September. I have taken PTDY in conjunction with PCS leave several times, all you have to do is make sure it states in the remarks section of your DA 31(SM is Authorized PTDY beginning 11 Sep 08 to 20 Sep 08)and have the Battalion Commander's name and signature in the Approving Authority block on your leave form. Sometimes units have their own way of putting it on the DA 31 but this way has always worked for me. Ensure you go to housing while on leave and have them stamp you out on the day you start your PTDY otherwise you will get charged.

You don't happen to work with me do you? I work with a Staff Sergeant that is headed to Gordon to do the same thing apparently. Let me know how that turns out. I was wondering after they lost the Drills there how the hole switchover to squad leaders and platoon sergeants would work out. What kind of work load you'd have, daily routine, etc. I might want to come over to 447 after being there for awhile.

Im in 57th ESB, alot of Staff Sergeants are headed to Gordon...especially if your a 25Q. I talked to Branch and he said that Fort Hood is severely overstrengthed with Q's. He gave me a choice, either Gordon or Korea.

I am an E-6 going from reserve to active trying to be stationed at Fort Gordon. Do you know if they are still taking E-6 25Q?

By the way, what unit you headed to on Gordon?
Wanted to know how did this work for you. Cause I will be doing the same thing in less than 10 months
