So, in the unit I am currently in, we don't deploy as whole units, just teams every 9 months. I just signed my reenlistment papers today to go to McPherson. My branch manager got me a slot at HQ 3rd Army. I know they deploy (and I don't have a problem with that)...Since you (ArmyReenlistment) are down there now, can you tell me anything about their deployments? Like, when the next rotation is going out just so I have an idea for when I get down there? I just don't want to be told as soon as i get to the unit, "Pack your bags, in two weeks you are heading down range."

Wish I could provide some more information, but I am assigned to HQs FORSCOM on Fort McPherson. 3rd Army HQs is right next to us, but it's a totally different command.

My husband is stationed there... I know he and people who worked with them would deploy individually for 6 months at a time... He told me that may be changing

May be changing as in getting longer or shorter? I'm just curious as my husband and I want to have another child and I want to plan it right. I have no problem deploying and would love it if they were 6 months. Someone in my unit here at Bragg said that one of his NCOs was in HQ (my same MOS-25R) and that their 'deployments' were really TDYs following the general downrange to check up on his troops all over. Now, I guess that probably depends on what section you end up in, but that would be even more awesome.

It will just be nice for me to even do my job. Or at least do something close to it, like in the Public Affairs realm. My actual MOS is maintenance on broadcast equipment but I'm more trained on how to use it since that's all I've been doing the past 2.5 years here at Bragg. Editing video, shooting, taking photos, doing 3D animation...

Well, I am currently stationed here at McPherson, and we do 6 months per deployment to kuwait. They are changing it due to now we are turning into a Joint Taskforce Command and either this year or next start going to Iraq and or Afghanistan. This is a real nice place with a lot of high brass everywhere, but its up to you how you make of it

oh yea they are talking either 12-15 month deployments as well...but its all talk now.
