Hello! I have some questions that I hope someone can help me with. My hubby just reenlisted overseas and got base of choice. He was told that when he comes back from deployment, he will have 90 days stabilization and then get orders to the new base we will be at. Is this true? Ive heard two different things. One is the above statement and the other is that he has to finish out this enlistment and then a year and a half from now when his time would have been up, he gets his orders and we move. Which one is correct?

Also, since he is just coming back from deployment, if we get put in a new unit 90 days after he comes back and the new unit is preparing for deployment, does he go with them or does he get put on rear d or do they send him at a later date or what? Thanks in advance!

kotzjan8,
Ok here's the deal. When he gets back or while he's there, he will get orders to his new unit. He can waive the stabalization if he wants and report to the new unit or he can just wait and then go after reintegration. He will not have to wait until the time left on his original contract is up... THERE IS NONE!! When he reenlisted, he got a discharge from the Army. Now the day after his reenlistment date, he started a new enlistment. EXAMPLE: I reenlist for 6 years. I have a year and a half left on my contract. The new ETS would be computed as 6 years from that point. Not 7 1/2. So therefore I only reenlisted for 4 1/2. So the remaining time that you thought was on that contract is non-existant. Hope you're following.

Now as far as the new unit goes... That is a different story. In todays Army the dwell time (time since last deployment/overseas) needed to deploy I thought was 6 months... But I think that it could have even been bumped down to 3 months. But either way when he reenlisted I'm sure that DA in all thier wisdom, projected a unit that would be good at that duty station for your husband. So I'm sure they computed what his dwell time would be and when the projected time of deployment for that unit would be (if any).

Hope this helps somewhat and I wasn't too confusing.
