I am reporting to Fort Rucker in May. Right now i am a part of the Minneapolis Recruiting BN here in Minnesota. Being single i have BAH coming in. My gaining unit told me there was not room for NCO's in the barracks when i get there. Which is fine with me. The problem i am coming across is trying to find help with finding a place quickly before i get there. When i moved to minnesota from Fort Carson it was easy. My entire family is here and i stayed with them until i found a place. Im just not sure how easy its going to be doing the same thing when i get to Rucker. Seeing that i dont know a person down there. Should i push my gaining unit to help me out? Any suggestions?

If you can't get assistance from your gaining unit you can contact the housing office (SITES database)or a local property management company, that handles rental properties. Hope this helps

Look into a sponsorship program at your new duty station.

You will probably be able to stay at the on post hotel/motel if there is one. If there isn't you may be either crammed in the barracks or you could get a hotel room and reimbersed through your BAH. When i reported to ft. bragg i was put in the hotel on post for about a week until i found a place to rent. hope this helps.
