What is everyone's take on Carson? I have heard good things. My husband and I are 63B headed there in March, going to 4th ID. From what I can tell from the orders, we are going to 2nd brigade? How is it there? My son will be going to Chilren's hospital there in Denver, how is that? On post of Offpost housing? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

I was stationed at Ft Carson for 6 1/2 years, deployed 3 years out of that. CO Springs is a great area, tons of stuff to do. Denver is about an hour away. Make sure you bring cold weather stuff, it gets REALLY windy and weather is unpredictable there. If you like outdoor activities, you will be in one of the best places in the Army for them, plenty of space in the surrounding areas. Housing is up to you, on-post is mostly new, and there is a TON of housing off post. Stay away from anything by Nevada Ave, that's the shady part of town. If you have any more questions about specifics, feel free to ask.
