So orders changed slightly and it looks like im headed to Fort Sill. Anyone currently there or have some advice about it? One of my big things is during my PCS leave I will be getting married and was curious about on post housing as opposed to trying for off post. Also i am going to an ADA unit that is moving there..anyone have a ballpark idea of the optempo for those types of units on sill? Any help would be appreciated.

If you are not a senior NCO or officer, you will wait for 2 years for housing. There is an un-godly amount of junior enlisted soldiers. The optempo will not be like Vicenza.

As for the ADA units, there is only 1 there right now, and it is 6-52 ADA. They are a patriot unit. There should be more units moving in there, as the ADA school will be moving there as well.

I am sorry I can not give you any more, as I am currently in Iraq. I will be there on R&R at Sill in August, and cannot wait!

I PCS'd from Sill just a couple months ago, and will gladly give you information. DON'T get on post housing, and don't expect to get any for the next couple years. They are doing a big renovation of the post housing and the waiting list is horribly long. When I left I was number 340-something. your best bet for housing is just outside the 52nd street gate, a little place called fox valley. I stayed there with my wife and had no complaints. I also can tell you that coming from europe and going to sill, you are in for a culture shock. That place is not very family friendly and the best sights are found after traveling. OKC is about 45 minutes north, and dallas is a couple hours south. Sorry for you loss (going to Sill), and feel free to email me if you have anymore questions.

the cost of living is generally cheap, with your BAH sitting at about 700 for an E-4. There is no COLA for fort sill. and sightseeing is relegated to looking out your window on the drive in to work. There is alot of trips through the Carlson-Wagonlit travel agency found in the PX, and use your long weekends for traveling. I don't know what the radius is for ADA, but for my battalion, you could get from Dallas to Tulsa, and OKC is looking at getting some sports teams, so be on the look out for that.
